April was a truly heart-warming month for our Community Posy Project - three beautiful gatherings, wonderful communities, and so many posies made with love and shared with care.
The Community Posy Project is something I run purely from the heart - there is no profit in it for Flowers for Jane. Each month I host two community studio gatherings where attendees simply contribute the wholesale cost of the flowers - nothing more. It is the energy and joy from those sessions that make it sustainable for me to then give my time freely to community gatherings out and about. What also makes it possible is the generosity of those who choose to sponsor a session - and for that I am endlessly grateful.
Flowers in the Workplace with SS Accounting Solutions, Dingley
We kicked off April in the best possible way, sponsored and hosted by the wonderful team at SS Accounting Solutions in Dingley, who brought the Posy Project right into their workplace. It was such a lovely way to pause the working day and fill the office with flowers and good conversation - proof that a little floral joy belongs everywhere, not just in the home.
But SS Accounting Solutions did not stop there. In an incredibly generous act of paying it forward, they also sponsored an additional Posy Project gathering - one that will allow me to share the flower joy with a group who may be disadvantaged or simply in need of a little gift, without the burden of cost. The sponsored sessions are what allow me to keep showing up and giving my time - knowing that the flowers and costs are covered means I can focus on what I love most, sharing the joy of floristry with others. That kind of generosity is exactly what this project is all about, and it means the world.
I am currently in discussion with an organisation to book this in, and I cannot wait to share the details with you soon. Watch this space!
An Evening in Langwarrin
Our second gathering took place right here at our Langwarrin studio, and what a lovely evening it was. A wonderful group of locals came together to learn the art of making flower posies, and I had the joy of guiding everyone through one of my favourite floristry fundamentals - the spiral stem technique. There is something so satisfying about watching someone place their first spiralled stems and feel that click of "I have got it!"
After our studio sessions I am always reminded of why I do this - and it is the energy from evenings like this one that fuels the community side of the project too. A huge thank you to the generous Jo for volunteering to deliver the flowers to the residents of Lifeview Argyle Court Aged Care in Chelsea. Knowing that our little posies brought some brightness to someone's day makes every moment worthwhile.
A Morning with the Ranelagh Club, Mt Eliza
Our third gathering of the month was with the lovely members of the Ranelagh Club in Mt Eliza - and what a morning it was! A special thank you to Bernadette for the wonderful suggestion to bring the members together for a flower arranging session. It was such a warm and joyful group to spend time with.
We explored the spiral stem technique, and I shared some tips on how to help your flowers last longer at home - a few simple tricks that make a real difference. Every member made two posies: one to take home for themselves, and one to gift to someone in their life who deserves to feel a little appreciated. I love that intention so much. Flowers have such a unique way of saying what words sometimes cannot.
Thank You
The Community Posy Project exists because of generous people - those who come along, those who deliver, those who suggest new ways to grow our little community, and those who choose to sponsor the joy of flowers for others. A special mention again to SS Accounting Solutions for their incredible generosity this month - both in hosting and in paying it forward.
If you would like to get involved, host a gathering, or sponsor a Posy Project session for a community group close to your heart, I would love to hear from you.
Until next Month.
