About The Community Posy Project
Flowers have always brought me incredible joy, but I've discovered something even more beautiful: the connections that bloom when we share flowers with others.
Through my floristry journey, I've witnessed how a simple gesture can spark friendship, ease loneliness, and remind someone they matter.
That's why I created The Community Posy Project—to help create connection and begin to cure loneliness by bringing people together through the simple, powerful act of creating and sharing flowers.
The Community Posy Project is a volunteer initiative that gives back in a couple of ways. Firstly by bringing together people to create posies of flowers. We do this once a month in our Langwarrin studio and once a month out in the community.
Participants make one posy for themselves as a reminder of connecting with other like minded souls. As well, they make one posy to give. Again creating connection after the activity and giving them the joy of giving.
Our mission is to combat disconnection and spread joy through the simple act of making and giving fresh flowers.
How It Works
1. Join Our Volunteer Sessions
- When: 1-hour session monthly - Dates at top & bottom of page
- Where: Flowers for Jane studio 8 Altarnun Rd Langwarrin
- What to bring: Just yourself, a caring heart, and clean glass jars
- Contribution: $15 (includes GST) per session to cover flowers, foliage and ribbon.
2. What Happens During a Session
Our sessions are designed to be warm, welcoming, and fun. When you arrive, you'll:
- Enjoy tea, coffee, and light refreshments while socialising with fellow volunteers
- Learn simple flower arranging techniques with Cassy in a relaxed, supportive environment
- Write kind messages on gift cards to attach to the flowers
- Create multiple small posy jars using fresh, seasonal flowers
- Share stories, connect with neighbours, and be part of something meaningful
No experience is necessary—all skill levels are welcome! Please note that children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
3. Distribution Network
Once created, our beautiful posies are delivered by:
- Flowers for Jane drivers
- Individual volunteers
4. Where the Posies Go
Our flower arrangements bring smiles to:
- Retirement village residents
- Nursing home residents
- People receiving Meals on Wheels or other individuals accessing council support services
- Anyone in our community we think may be experiencing loneliness and need a reminder that there are people out there that are thinking of them.
Why $15?
Your small contribution helps us:
- Purchase fresh, quality flowers from local suppliers
- Provide glass jars when donations run low
- Cover basic materials like ribbon and gift cards
- Ensure sustainability of the project for ongoing community impact
Every dollar goes directly into materials for creating more moments of joy for those who need them most.

Host and/or Sponsor a Posy Project in the Community
Each month, Cassy gives her time and resources to host two Community Posy Project sessions — one at the Flowers for Jane studio in Langwarrin, and one out in the community.
This isn’t a technical floristry class, The Posy Project is an experience designed to spark joy, nurture creativity, and foster genuine connection. Under gentle guidance, participants are taken on a hands-on floral journey, hand-picking from the flower bar and arranging their own beautiful posy to gift and/or take home and treasure.
If our two spots are filled for the month but you really, really want to book one in, you can sponsor an event for just $199 inc GST.
It's a nice way to showcase your values in action — Cassy will come to you with everything needed. Simply provide the venue, and your volunteers (with their glass jars!) each contribute $15 on the day to cover flowers, foliage, and ribbon.
