The Community Posy Project: August's Posies Find a Home at Calvary Sandhurst

Every month, The Community Posy Project sends handmade posies out into the community to brighten someone's day. Last Friday 14 August, they went to Calvary Sandhurst Residential Aged Care on Herbert Road, Carrum Downs.

A Delivery With a Head Start

Usually when we turn up with flowers, we're introducing ourselves for the first time. Not this time. The staff at Calvary Sandhurst already knew who we were. They'd heard about the group before we'd even said a word.

It turned out they knew someone who had come along to one of our events. That one small link meant the team already understood what we were about and why we do it, and they welcomed the posies with open arms.

There's something lovely about that. It's a reminder that this project isn't just flowers moving from A to B. It's a community, and communities have their own way of finding each other.

Why It Mattered

For the residents at Calvary Sandhurst, a posy on the table is a small thing with a big effect. A bit of colour, a bit of scent, a reminder that someone outside those walls was thinking of them. For us, deliveries like this are exactly why the Community Posy Project exists.

Everyone has someone in their life who deserves flowers and doesn't expect them. Sometimes that person is a resident in an aged care home who hasn't had a visitor in a while. Sometimes it's the family member who works there and could use a lift in her day too. This delivery was a reminder that flowers rarely land on just one person. They ripple.

What's Next

The Community Posy Project by Flowers fro Jane will be on again next month on Tuesday the 15th of September

If you'd like to get involved, whether that's helping arrange, or simply knowing someone who could use a posy dropped their way, get in touch.

And if you want to see how the posies come together, come along to one of our workshops. You never know who you'll bump into.

Flowers by Jane runs The Community Posy Project a not-for-profit flower arranging group as part of our commitment to bringing a little warmth to the community, one posy at a time.
