Whats on in October at Flowers for Jane your local Langwarrin Florist

Whats on in October at Flowers for Jane your local Langwarrin Florist

October is here and the studio is full of colour. I've got a few things I really want to share with you this month, so grab a cuppa and let's catch up.

Who is Jane?

People ask me this all the time. Is Jane a real person? Is it me?

Here's the thing. Jane is everybody.

Jane is your sister who always remembers your birthday but never expects a fuss made of her own. Jane is the colleague who's leaving on Friday. Jane is the friend who's had one of those weeks and hasn't asked for help. And some days, Jane is you.

Everybody has a Jane in their life. And Jane deserves flowers.

Over the next few weeks you'll start seeing "Who is Jane?" pop up on our Instagram and Facebook. I'd really love you to follow along at @flowersforjane or Facebook and be part of it.

Some news I'm still a bit surprised about

The Frankston Business Chamber Excellence Awards are on again for 2026.

You might remember I won the Small and Succeeding Business category a couple of years ago. Well, I've just found out someone has nominated me for the Education Excellence Award. I honestly didn't see it coming, and I'm so honoured. Whoever you are, thank you.

And it's not just about me! If there's a local business in Frankston City or the Mornington Peninsula that you love, this is a really lovely way to show them some appreciation. They'll get a beautiful email letting them know they've been nominated, which I can tell you from experience is such a nice surprise.

This year's categories are:

  • 2026 Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Business of the Year
  • Education Excellence
  • Hospitality and Tourism Excellence
  • Health and Care Excellence
  • Professional Services Excellence
  • Trade and Services Excellence
  • Retail Excellence
  • Community Impact and Engagement
  • Innovation and Sustainability Excellence
  • Outstanding Employer
  • Collaboration and Partnerships Excellence
  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year
  • People's Choice Award

If you'd like to nominate me or any other local business, you'll need to be quick, because nominations close Thursday 9 October.

The winners will be announced at the gala on Friday 20 November, so fingers crossed for everyone!

The Community Posy Project is ONE in November.

Our next Community Posy Project is on Thursday 15 October at 10.30am at the Flowers for Jane studio in Langwarrin.

If you haven't been before, this is our not-for-profit initiative where we come together to make little posies and share them with people who could use a bit of brightness. Because everybody has a Jane in their life. Someone who's doing it tough, someone who gives so much to others, someone who just deserves to feel cherished. Even the residents at the local nursing home who haven't had any visitors for a while.

And honestly, the best part is seeing who those posies end up with. A big thanks you to Kerry from 38thparallelproductions for capturing the morning. Read about our September event on my blog to find out where the posies went to.

I've just released our November date too. Pop Monday 30 November, 10.30am to 12pm in your calendar, also at the Langwarrin studio.

I've made this one a little longer, because I've noticed everyone loves to stay and have a chat. So bring your stories and settle in.

If you know a community group or business that gives back to others and would love me to come to them and run a Posy Project in 2027, I'd love to hear from you. Just reply to this email.

Last month I took the project to the women of the Smiles Within group run by The Business of Smiles. Read about our fun on my blog.

This month's class: the floral handbag

Our monthly floristry class is on Wednesday 28 October at 10am, and this one is kind of special.

We're making a floral handbag. These are really popular right now for brides and flower girls to carry instead of a traditional bouquet, and they're literally the cutest thing. You'll learn how to design and build your own, then take it home with you.

Book yourself in and spend a morning making something beautiful.

Book your spot here: Price: $80

Save the date: High Tea and Vintage Teacup Flowers

I'm so excited about this one.

On Saturday 21 November at 2pm we're hosting a high tea and vintage teacup flowers workshop.

Come and spend a (hopefully!) warm, nearly summer afternoon with us. We'll start with a lovely high tea catered by Classic High Teas. Then we'll make cute little flower posies in vintage teacups that I've been collecting for a while now.

And the best part? You get to take home your very own three-piece set: a vintage teacup, saucer and little plate, filled with the flowers you've made.

It's the perfect afternoon to share with your mum, your sister or your best friend. Or just treat yourself.

$118 per person

We've already sold 14 tickets, and because we cap numbers at 20, there are only six spots left. So if you'd like to join us, please book fast!

Until next month

Thank you for being part of this little flower community. As a small business, every class booking, every order and every kind word really does make a difference. I still deliver most orders myself, so if you see my flower van on the road, give me a wave.

With love,

Cassy
