Community Posy Project September: Flowers, Coffee and Connection in Langwarrin

Last week we brought people together at our Langwarrin studio for September's Community Posy Project. 🌸

And honestly, it's one of my favourite things we do all month.

A mix of new faces and familiar ones turned up to have a coffee, make posies and have a chat. It was a noisy, happy room. And that's exactly what we want.

What is the Community Posy Project?

The Community Posy Project is a monthly, not-for-profit flower session run from the Flowers for Jane your local florist in Langwarrin. It costs $15, and every person makes two posies. One to keep for yourself. And one we deliver out into the community.

This month, those posies went to Frankston Nursing Home in Frankston South and Greenways Retirement Village in Seaford.

Why we do it

I love that we get to bring people together to be social and create something with their hands. Then we get to take that connection even further by sending some of the posies out to some of the wiser people in our community. The ones who gave so much throughout their lives and deserve to be cherished, not forgotten.

Because sometimes Jane is the lady down the hall at the nursing home who hasn't had flowers in a while. And Jane deserves flowers too.

A few big thank yous

A special thanks to Kerry from 38th Parallel Productions, who kindly captured the day for us. She really caught the essence of it: the connection, the chatter, the joy in the room. Kerry and I actually met through the Frankston Business Chamber, and it's been so lovely having her along to document a morning like this.

And a big thank you to my mum for helping, and to my dog Roxy for supervising. Loosely.

When is the next Community Posy Project?
