About The Community Posy Project

By

Flowers for Jane

In a world where loneliness and isolation have become increasingly common, sometimes the simplest gestures can make the biggest difference. A small posy of fresh flowers, lovingly arranged and shared, has the power to brighten someone's day and remind them they matter.

The Community Posy Project’ created by Flowers for Jane, is an initiative that brings people together through the joy of flower arranging and the beauty of human connection. Whether it's at our floral studio, a corporate team, a retirement village, a community group, or a gathering of friends, our sessions create space for creativity, conversation, and care.

Our Evolving Mission

We combat loneliness from two sides now: through the connection created when people come together to learn, create and have a shared purpose, AND through the joy that follows, by giving. In our community volunteer sessions, participants deliver their posies to people who need a reminder they're thought of. In settings like aged care facilities or retirement villages, residents can choose to keep their posy as a beautiful memento of the togetherness experienced, or gift it to a fellow resident or loved one.

The Community Posy Project is about more than just making or delivering flowers - it's about:

  • Building community through shared creative experiences

  • Fostering belonging in spaces where people might otherwise feel lonely

  • Creating ripples of kindness that extend beyond the session itself when volunteer groups deliver the posies out into the community

The Bigger Picture

Every participant becomes part of a wider movement to combat disconnection in our communities. Whether you're a team member strengthening workplace bonds, a resident building friendships in your village, or a volunteer spreading joy to strangers - you're not just receiving care, you're actively contributing to a more connected world.

Because ultimately, connection is the cure for loneliness. And it starts with simple moments: hands arranging flowers, conversations flowing freely, and the shared understanding that we all deserve to feel seen, valued, and part of something meaningful.

Small gestures, big impact - one posy at a time.
